The Management Competency Assessment™ was originally designed from a content analysis of a myriad of research articles and studies into effective management practices by the author Bob Selden. It was then refined through focus groups of various managers across industries and later field tested with specific targeted managers.
The Management Competency Assessment is primarily used as an input to a
Management Development Intervention, either workshop or structured training
program.
The person being assessed needs to provide a list of the people they wish to
have as their raters, along with the relationships of those raters to
themselves (Self, Manager, Peers, Direct Reports).
Emails need to be customised for the organisation and organisationally
specific introduction and privacy screens also need to be developed prior to
implementing the process.
Once this is done, all raters are invited to respond and are given,
individual, secure access codes to access the system to complete the
questionnaires.
The facilitator can review the status online at all times.
The system automatically reminds people who have not responded within the
project timelines.
When all raters are complete, the facilitator can either print a hard copy
at their own desktop, or flick a switch to enable the person to view their
own reports
The reports show the currently rated performance as well as an indicator as
to whether the Manager should do the same amount, more, or less of this
activity.
It is an insightful reporting mechanism.
