The Research

CHECKpoint™ has been developed from the research carried out by two of the most notable social psychologists Frederick Herzberg and D.C. McClelland. The author, Bob Selden has combined the work of these two together with his own extensive consultancy experience across a variety of industries and cultures to produce CHECKpoint.

Additionally, the CHECKpoint report recommendations are based on Bob Selden's practical application of these theoretical underpinnings in over 30 years of organisational consulting.

How do I use it?

Checkpoint is administered as a "Pulse Survey". Designed for quick results it is a short survey - only 26 questions.

The true value of Checkpoint is not just in the results of the first survey, but in tracking the progress made in continuous improvement over time.

The process involves:

  1. Conduct an initial Checkpoint Survey for either all members of staff, or a representative sample of all staff.
  2. Review the results and decide on interventions needed to correct reported "critical action" items. These items are identified by the Checkpoint reporting process based on an algorithm using the scores for each item and their reported importance.
  3. Implement the interventions on a priority basis for the most critical items.
  4. Conduct a second Checkpoint Survey that shows the changes in view, and re-establishes the "critical action" items.
  5. Closely monitor the impact of interventions and periodically re-survey using Checkpoint to measure the improvements brought about by the interventions.

Checkpoint may reveal some areas where the action steps are not obvious. Where this happens it is recommended that a short survey be conducted to get more detail in the area where the doubt exists. This can be achieved using the same processing Platform so all of the results are in the one place.

As Checkpoint is a complete reporting system, there is no need for accreditation to use this product.

Manage the administration of the survey yourself or HRworkbench can do this for you.
