Pulse Surveys

What is it?
A pulse survey is a powerful type of survey used to monitor the internal operating health, or climate, of the organisation.

Pulse surveys are surveys involving the employees of an organisation and are conducted every four or six months to allow managers to track trends in the way staff view the organisation.

The term "Pulse" comes from the medical use of the word, which measures the heartbeat. When the pulse of a person is measured graphically it shows a line with a "blip" every time the heart beats.

The organisational pulse survey shows the heart beat of the organisation and is graphed in a similar manner.

The pulse survey can show a single statistic that is indicative of the current health (a single score on a graph) and can then be "drilled down" to reveal the components of the overall score.

HRworkbench provides pulse surveys to a variety of organisations to allow them to track the health of their organisation over a variety of areas that vitally interest managers.

How can it be used?
The periodic collection of employee opinions through a pulse survey is an important management practice to view the current status of the view of employees, but also to monitor the trends in those opinions.

It aids in decision making about a range of operational and people management issues, and gives good insight into management practice generally.

The process is best conducted through an Internet-based questionnaire with automatic collation of results.

Best Practice
Best practice in conducting employee opinions is to engage in periodic pulse surveys.

The pulse survey must be easy to administer and results must be also easy to access.

HRworkbench provides best practice in pulse surveys through its multi-lingual capable delivery of these surveys over the Internet.

Re-Runs of the survey are scheduled in advance and are implemented automatically.
