Behavioural Profiling

What is it?
Behavioural Profiling is the process of producing a report that gives some insight into a person's behaviour in the workplace.

A behaviour is a response to a situation, so workplace behaviour is someone's response to something that happens at work. The behaviour could be to:

  • Think a particular way
  • Act in a particular way

Behavioural profiling reveals how the person may react to a given situation or environmental stimulant.

How can it be used?
Behavioural profiling may be used as an input of the following processes:

  • Selection
  • Career Planning
  • Succession Planning
  • Performance Management
  • Workforce Planning
  • Development
  • Development planning
  • Organisational Change

Best Practice
HRworkbench® recommends that behavioural profiling be structured and used as a component of a well planned process.

They should be used in an environment where trained facilitators can assist the people being profiled with the interpretation of the profiling and its application to the workplace.
